YALSA Booklists & Book Awards | Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)

The Printz Award is very shiny.

Look no further for fantastic book recommendations, book lists, and award nominees and winners– the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has a plethora of collection development and readers’ advisory tools, plus a number of national programming pushes and ways to involve teens, like Teen Tech Week, Teen Read Week, and the Teens Top Ten awards.

Here are two sites that skim the cream from the top of YA lit:

YALSA Booklists | Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA).

Showcases yearly compilations of the best media for Young Adults, including Amazing Audiobooks, Fabulous Films, Great Graphic Novels, Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers, and the Teens Top Ten lists, which allows teens to choose their ten favorite books from a list of current titles nominated by teen book groups. Nominations are listed in April, and then Teens vote for their favorite books in August and September. The votes are tallied and YALSA names the Teens’ Top Ten during Teen Read Week in October.

YALSA Book Awards | Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA).

Includes the Odyssey Award, for best audio book, the Alex Award, for adult titles with YA appeal, and the Michael L. Printz Award, sponsored by Booklist, which honors the best book written for teens each year.
