The M Word: Marketing Libraries

The ‘M’ Word – Marketing Libraries is a collaborative blog by Nancy Dowd and Kathy Dempsey, of Libraries are Essential.  The M Word’s goal is to help librarians learn about marketing trends and ideas so that they can apply them in a library setting.  Among the many offerings on the site, the M Word features:

  • Links to Webinars and Workshops— some free– that focus on marketing particular library services and connecting with patrons
  • Social media news, like the recent spotlight on Facebook Timeline cover photos, and how to choose a photo that represents the library in the best possible light
  • Slideshares for various presentations from Nancy and Kathy so you can see what they’ve shared at conferences and workshops
  • Conference coverage, like the recent post of Tips from the Computers in Libraries 2012 Conference

The site is not quite a searchable as some, lacking a category cloud or a search box, so the best way to keep in touch on the M Word is to subscribe to e-mail digests or an RSS feed, the links for which are available in a left hand sidebar.
